Hello, all. My name is Bruce. Although my residency is in Portugal, we -- my partner, Russ, and I -- have owned a vacation home in southern Spain (Olvera, Cadiz) for >20 years. We emigrated from the USA in 2017 for political reasons. Our primary residence is now near the border at Badajoz, in Elvas (Vila Boim). We just purchased a small house in Arroyo de la Luz (Caceres) and are eager to meet new people in the area. We can speak English, of course, but also Spanish ... and a bit of Portuguese. Before retiring, I was a university professor and a church pastor--progressive and liberal. Now, I spend much of my time writing magazine features, academic research, journal articles, self-help manuals, and newspaper by-liners. My books deal with international (intercultural) living, communication, language, interfaith theology, gender studies, anxiety and depression, “social” politics, marketing, and the media. My partner in life, Russ, is also retired and is now creating a new cooking channel on YouTube. He's a great cook ... which is great ... since we enjoy entertaining! We're looking to make new friends (and acquaintances) in the area to get to know socially, do things together with, and establish friendships. Hola a todos. Me llamo Bruce. Aunque resido en Portugal, mi pareja y yo tenemos una casa de vacaciones en el sur de España (Olvera, Cádiz) desde hace más de 20 años. Nuestra residencia principal está cerca de la frontera con Badajoz, en Elvas (Vila Boim). Acabamos de comprar una casita en Arroyo de la Luz (Cáceres) y estamos deseando conocer a gente de la zona. Hablamos inglés, por supuesto, pero también español... y un poco de portugués. Antes de jubilarme, era profesor universitario y pastor de una iglesia —progresista y liberal. Ahora dedico gran parte de mi tiempo a escribir reportajes para revistas, investigaciones académicas, artículos para revistas especializadas, manuales de autoayuda y columnas en periódicos. Mis libros tratan de la vida internacional (intercultural), la comunicación, el lenguaje, la teología interreligiosa, los estudios de género, la ansiedad y la depresión, la política «social», el marketing y los medios de comunicación. Mi compañero de vida, Russ, también está jubilado y ahora está creando un nuevo canal de cocina para YouTube. Es un gran cocinero... lo cual es estupendo... ya que nos encanta recibir invitados. Buscamos hacer nuevos amigos (y conocidos) en la zona para relacionarnos socialmente, hacer cosas juntos y entablar amistades.
