Making friends with people just to learn a language is a bit too self-serving, isn’t it?

Everyone’s time is precious. I don’t think chatting with native speakers improves your language skills, you’re just using the language you’ve learnt, rather than actually learning anything new.

For goodness’ sake, go and take a proper course. Stop just saying ‘hi’ to people.
