I am a freelance teacher, drama examiner and writer who loves learning languages. I studied and worked as an actor based in London and performed around the world before studying English Literature at University. I love gardening and walking and keep fit by cycling and doing Yoga. I like cooking and am pretty domesticated! My wife is an acupuncturist and Yoga teacher and I have three daughters. In my role as a performance examiner (theatre and public speaking) I travel in the UK and abroad assessing performance and speech exams online and in person. I love words and learning about culture through language. I speak quite fluent German and French, I speak Italian pretty well and am trying to improve my Spanish. I started learning Polish a few years ago, which is coming along nicely and I recently started dabbling in Chinese and Korean just to learn something new and also as I interact with a lot of Chinese students now online.

Bonjour - My name is Tom. I am a 52 years old Architect and have been teaching myself French off and on for a few of years. I live in the woods overlooking the beautifuly Wye Valley in Wales with my wife and two teenage children. I am a retired English / History teacher and occasional writer. i live in London, but have lived and worked overseas for some years. i would very much like to improve my French language. I think it is a very beautiful language and on the practical front would love to be able to speak a bit when I visit France.( I went to France in the summer and many times got stuck trying to explain what I wanted.) I like travel and meeting people. I would like to help people with their English and to say something about UK culture and history.

I'M TAKING A BREAK FROM LANGUAGE LEARNING AT THE MOMENT. Hi My name is Julian and I live in the Liverpool area of the north of England. I am looking to do a language exchange with a native Arabic speaker. I studied Arabic many years ago at university and learnt Fusha and Egyptian dialect but today I would struggle to have even a basic conversation. So, if you're happy to help me become conversational in Arabic and are patient in nature it would be good to speak to you. In return I can help you with your English. In my job I am an English teacher and I am also a writer so my level and understanding of English is above average. I can help you whether you want to just be able to speak conversationally or whether you wish to acquire a more sophisticated and refined English. I have a relaxed approach to learning and try to make the sessions enjoyable and fun too. I use Zoom for language exchanges though I'm happy to use an alternative if you prefer.
